About: A movie about Quakers. If you can relate to conservative churches and can get the conservative church humor, this movie is for you. This is basically a church movie. Church customs and traditions are center stage. The movie goes into great detail about the intricacies of the Quaker beliefs. So if you wanted to learn about Quakers, this is would be a good movie to watch as well. And if you'd like to see a movie with a well-functioning family, this would be something to watch for a change.

Roles are played by professional Hollywood actors, so acting is good. And they are pretty good at portraying Quakers actually.

The setting is during the American civil war. A Quaker family who are the center of the film, are faced with some tough circumstances which will test their pacifist views. If the mother can hold on to her beliefs firmly, can their son do the same when the enemy attacks? Can their beliefs actually help, even though they go against all war logic?

And yes, the mother is a very strong Quaker. She keeps the entire family on the right path. When other members give in to temptations, she would not budge, and set the rest of the family straight.

It's not just the pacifist views, that set Quakers apart from the society they lived in. From strong views against music, dancing, gambling, dress code, any type of use of physical force against a fellow human being, to their speech involving "thee's" and "thou's", they were constantly at odds with the rest of the society. The movie explores their views on different things very well, and puts it into real-life examples of a typical family.
